Default Shape Shifting Self Resurrection

This idea has been slumbering in my mind for a while now, i guess its best to just throw it out and see what the reactions are..
Perhaps it is more something for GW2, but even then reactions are welcome to see if the community would like to see something like this implemented.

The idea was to have a signet of SELF resurrection, which also works as a shapeshift. This selfres would give the opportunity to keep fighting in a tense battle without having to be resurrected by some-one else.
The signet would replace all skills with a fixed and limited skillset, just like the Norn shapeshifts, and give the player the chance to keep fighting, but for a given time (say 30 - 60sec).

This idea mainly comes in handy in PvE where tense fights very often result in a total team wipe-out as soon as one of the teamplayers dies, less people have to take on more agro, and as soon as a healer stops to heal to resurrect the fallen hero... other players die... if this player could temporarely ressurect him/her-self, the team can keep fighting and the res can be postponed untill the fight is over..

Debate:
The idea and the shapes are up for debate, atleast if you can come up with a better suited shape to turn into after the self-res.
*Which skills each shape should have would be best left untill this idear gets enough support...*

Examples for the shape shifting selfresurrection:

Necro: My bones
You transform your corpse into an Undead bone Minion (with a couple of skills)
Your bones live on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body

Mesmer: My Mind
The strength of your mind allows your brain to live on after you died (with a couple of skills). (Shapeshift into 'Rider' like brainmass and nervestem)
Your mind lives on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Warrior: Fighting Spirit
Your fighting spirit lives on after you have died (with couple of skills).
(Shapeshifts into Ghostly Warrior).
Your fighting spirit lives on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Monk: Healing Essence
Your substract your healing essence from your corpse to keep healing (with a couple of skills).
Your Healing essence lives on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Elementalist: By the element
The force of the elements around you lets you transform your life essence into a Djin (with a couple of skills).
The elements let you live on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Ranger: Tree of Life
Your bond with nature lets you live on in a Spirit tree form (with a couple of skills).
Melandru's spirit lets you live on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Assasin: My Shadow
After you have died your shadow keeps fighting (with a couple of skills)
Your shadow lives on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Ritualist: Unbound Spirit
After you have died your spirit lives on Unbound (with a couple of skills)
As an unbound spirit you live on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Paragon: I'm an Angel
Your life essence lives on in the form of a Winged angel (with a couple of skills).
As a winged spirit you live on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

Dervish: The Grim Reaper
After you have died your live essence lives on in the form of the Grim Reaper (with a couple of skills). (shape shift into Grentch like 'ghost').
As the Grim reaper you live on for 60sec or untill slain in combat, or untill you are resurrected into your body.

With a little bit of planning, and making sure the other heroes rather than healers have resses, the main reasoning for your idea are not necessary.

And if there's still a problem then bring some res scrolls

There's also the argument that PvE is easy enough as it is, without making it much too easy.

So I'm against the idea.

First problem is this is a NEW skill idea, and we don't need new skills. Second problem is the idea is imbalanced for PvP, so it would be a PvE only skill, and we don't need more of them either. Third problem is bolded in your quote. Only rez a healer/protector should be using DURING COMBAT is Unyielding Aura. If you are using hench healer, they will use it and nothing can be done to stop it, if using hero healers, you can disable it or not give them one.

Learn how to stay alive, or how to rez people that die, don't ask for new skills to compensate for your poor playing.

I wouldn't mind this for PvE, it's less imba than a lot of PvE skills, after all.
But...
1. Monks shouldn't be ressing during combat.
2. You should be able to keep yourself alive.
3. You can't use skills while you're dead, so this skill would have to automatically ressurect the party member upon death.
4. Not so sure about assigned skill sets, would it be different for different classes?
5. Skills have only been added to the game through campaigns/expansions. Not sure if Anet would make an exception.

Also, would the ranger be a druid? That'd be awesome. Not sure if it could fire a bow, though...

Isn't there a rit skill that when you die you drop ashes and everyone gets rezzed? Whatever. Totally imba for pvp, and we already have enough pve only skills to abuse.

Bolded the relevant part - bringing resurrection skills on people that aren't healing/protecting your party allows you to get back to full strength without losing your healing/protection. It's common sense, and would help eliminate unnecessary deaths.

Ideas like this only make the game even more gimmicky than it already is. We really don't need any more of that. /notsigned

Editing to reword to a slightly less inflammatory tone.

What guild wars needs are new things to [im]balance, especially when the ideas are taken from somewhere else.

On topic

I think maybe this would be good in PvE but keep it unavailable for PvP, lest you want to hear QQ threads every 5 minutes here.

My note:
99% of the game was designed in the PvE world so, really, I think more PvE content needs to be respectfully added. PvP is so small compared to PvE. When the game was released TA and RA, AB that stuff simply didn't exist yet did it?

- If this idea (-r) was allready in my head from any other game (which is not unlikely) it must have come from CoH/CoV ... as i can't recall playing RPG like games from these other publishers.

- PvP was in the game from the beginning

- I mainly thought it could be a cool feature for PvE, to prevent teamwipe situations and mainly to not have to be laying down on the floor waiting for a res, or feel guilty if you get a res this then results in a teamwipe... I fully understand GW could do without it, but then, there are lots of skills that never get used and are still in the game

- Best reason sofar, to not have this is the 'to gimmicky', i can see where you are comming from with this and i hadn't thought of it this way, tnx ... (and also tnx for taking some bricks of your fire)

This is an unneeded mechanic, with even more balancing issues and I would not actually want to see it in GW2 either.

It's getting to a point where I don't care what Anet adds as long as it's something or at least give us something juicy about GW2 to keep us interested until it's released.

Therefore I wouldn't mind seeing this. Also PvE is a bit of a joke already, this feature to me would be most useful for PUGs when some idiot decides to aggro 3 mobs at once you at least stand some chance of not wiping. Pointless addition I know yet it would make PvE more interesting in my opinion. Also if you consider you'd have take up 2 skill slots for resurrection that would some what take away from your fighting ability.

As said, if you are getting a teamwipe in PvE, you need to work on your performance. Anet adding these skill into the game won't make you fail less in those situations, it will only take a bit longer for your team to get wiped.

Getting killed and being useless to your team is the way of the game to punish you for a bad performance. 'Good' groups are able to get you back on your feet in mere seconds, without losing any healing power. The bad teams gets wiped.
